Video Game Research Group (VGRG)

VGRG tests both factors that predict video game playing habits, as well as cognitive, emotional, and behavioral effects that may stem from video game use. Projects have included (a) an experiment testing the effects of vivid, violent games on players’ emotions, (b) a survey to determine predictors of pathological mobile gaming levels, and (c) an experiment exploring the social nature of gaming, including scenarios in which gamers can live stream their gaming progress to online audiences. Current projects are focused on Virtual Reality, including the effects of VR gaming and public opinion of VR technologies. Faculty Leader: Karyn Riddle.
